Every user can modify BESTMIX Formulation as a Service to fit his/her preferences. These settings can include screen sizes, the location of panes, hidden/unhidden columns, etc.

Setting up set up all these preferences, can be time consuming. In BESTMIX Formulation as a Service we have developed functionality to create user profiles: users can store their settings to a user settings profile, that can also be applied by other users. This can help new users to have a good starting point, and can help existing users to undo unwanted changes to the user settings.

Save and restore settings from and to a user profile for administrators

To be able to use the user profiles, two functions were added in the management application:

• Update user settings profile from user
• Apply user settings profile to user

Update user settings profile from user

With this feature, a profile can be “filled” with the settings of a certain user. So first a user makes sure, that on his/her account all settings are set as they should be, and then using this function, these settings can be copied into another user settings profile.

Apply user settings profile to user

With this function, the settings saved in a profile can be passed to any user, so after hitting the button, a selection of users is shown where the admin can select which users should get the settings of the profile selected. Settings will only be updated for those users who are currently not logged into the application.

With these two functions, you can set default settings for all users. At present, updating settings through this procedure triggers a “full” update of the settings, so you can't do a selective update of certain screen preferences.

Clear and restore settings for a regular user

If a user feels his or her settings are really messed up, there are two new options available in the user settings screen:

Clear the settings

In this case, all settings are deleted from the application, and the user returns to the application's default settings.

Restore settings from the chosen user settings profile

In this case, the user can select a public user profile. When pushing the restore button, all his/her settings will be replaced with the settings from the selected user profile.

This function will only be active when no detailed screens (other than the main application and the user settings screen) are opened.

Upon restoring the settings, the application will restart automatically to be able to apply the new settings.
