To guarantee a decent planning and controlling, companies in the nutritional industry need to be able to follow up animal production cycles and flocks in their ERP system.  Flows that are not handled correctly in the ERP system can result in production and demand planning difficulties or supply issues at the farm, e.g. the supply of an incorrect type of feed needed within a life cycle of the animal (starter, grower, finisher etc…).

It is common practice in the poultry and livestock business that cash settlements of feed deliveries depend on the finishing date of the animal lifecycle (when the animals are processed in the slaughter house). Not managing these agreements well can have a negative impact on your customers’ satisfaction, your reputation and ultimately on your cash flow.

Managing animal production cycles, flocks and livestock in MILAS

MILAS proactively supports the control of the animal production cycles (fattening rounds) for poultry and livestock. A cycle is linked to a farm and contains important data like: starting date, stable number, animal type and species, number of animals, start weight, planned end date of the animals, agreed payment condition for the round, etc.  These cycles can be allocated to several transactions (delivery of the animals, feed delivery, medication delivery etc…). Since a cycle can be linked to a feeding schedule, MILAS can propose the right feed in the right quantity upon the order entry. Moreover, MILAS immediately gives insight in the weight gains.  This way MILAS proactively supports the sales and feed production planning and can also automatically propose the right due date of the sales order, referring to the settings in the animal production cycle.

Conclusion

Because of the importance of the poultry and livestock planning within the nutritional supply chain, every sales order related to a certain cycle can be controlled on the feed demand (has the right type of feed and the right quantity been ordered for that cycle?).

Also for the financial follow up MILAS provides a structured, safe and user-friendly tool, set out to help your sales organization to automatically calculate the right due date of the invoices to your customers.

Supported Dynamics platforms

The described feature is currently available in Microsoft Dynamics AX2012 R3 based MILAS. Adifo is in the process of transferring this feature along with many other MILAS features to the new Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations platform.
